What is Digital Literacy?

"Digital Literacy" decorative

The American Library Association (ALA) defines digital literacy as "the ability to use information and communication technologies to find, evaluate, create, and communicate information, requiring both cognitive and technical skills" (ALA, n.d., para. 1). This Digital Literacy LibGuide takes a holistic approach and provides you with resources for becoming a digitally literate and responsible citizen. Explore the seven facets associated with digital literacy (Digital Literacy, n.d.):

  • Social Identity & Wellbeing
  • Locating
  • Evaluation
  • Ethics
  • Creation & Scholarship
  • Communication & Collaboration
  • Curation

Each blue tab on the left represents a facet. Click on the tabs to view resources, including scholarly and peer-reviewed articles, UNF E-books, infographics, videos, and websites.
