Please note most microphones need an interface to record audio to a PC or an adapter to interface with a camera.
- Microphones
- Kits 11-14 require some kind of XLR audio interface to function.
- Kit 15 is generally intended for use with a camera to get cleaner recording than just relying on the camera's microphone.
- Kit 16 can directly plug into a PC.
- Kit 17 is both a microphone and an XLR interface-capable portable recorder. It is a good option for recording audio only in the field.
- Interfaces
- KIT 20 contains studio monitoring headphones that should only be used with interfaces and other AV equipment. They cannot be checked out individually.
- USB Interfaces require the use of DAWS (Digital audio workstation). There are many free and trial versions of DAWS:
- Audacity- basic single-channel stereo editing.
- Pro Tools First- Free Version of Pro Tools, requires the creation of multiple accounts.
- GarageBand - Free on Mac and Apple devices.
- Adobe Audition - Professional audio software, available on library computers.
