The Bank of Jacksonville was established by William B. Barnett in Jacksonville, Florida, on May 7, 1877. What started as a single location in Jacksonville would become one of the Florida's largest banks in the 20th century, with locations across the state. Barnett Banks, Inc. was sold to NationsBank (now Bank of America) in 1977, but for its 100 years of operation, it was often referred to as "Florida's Bank."
