  • Digital Commons to search all our digitized items.  Check back often as digitization is an ongoing process.
  • Digital Exhibits to search our digital exhibits.  Check back often as we will continue to add content.
  • ArchivesSpace for finding aids. A finding aid is a descriptive inventory for an archival collection. Typically, it includes information about the origin, history, content, date and format of the records, as well as the physical and intellectual arrangement imposed upon them by the archivist.  Our finding aids may be searched by keyword or browsed by collection title, subject, or name.  Please note that unprocessed collections may not have finding aids.

Explore in Person

The Allen Lastinger Center for Florida History is available to everyone, even if you are not associated with the University of North Florida. We are located in the Thomas G. Carpenter Library, on the second floor. If you would like to use our resources in person, we encourage you to make an appointment.  To make an appointment, please email lib-alcfh@unf.edu, and visit the Visiting page to familiarize yourself with what to expect.

Veterans Museum

The Veterans Museum is a virtual museum that was created to preserve the legacy of United States veterans and their families. Visitors can interact with the museum through a kiosk, which is available when the library is open.  The kiosk allows visitors to connect with veterans’ stories in a powerful and immersive way and provides resources for veterans.

Potential Harmful Language Statement

The materials in the University of North Florida Allen Lastinger Center for Florida History reflect a wide range of individual experiences, viewpoints, and time periods. Users may encounter language or images that they find outdated, insensitive, harmful, or offensive. These materials illustrate the social mindsets and perspectives of their time, and it is recognized as best practice to retain such information to avoid censoring or altering the historical record and to maintain an understanding of its context.

ALCFH staff strive to use respectful and accurate language to describe all our historical materials. However, language, conventions, and archival best practices are always evolving. Language that was once considered acceptable may no longer be adequate or appropriate.
