Streaming Video Collections

Can I publicly screen a library streaming video?

It depends. Public Performance Rights determine if a streaming video can be shown to a public audience- where anyone can be part of the audience, in a public place.  All of UNF library's streaming videos are licensed for academic use.  A video needs to be licensed for Public Performance Rights to be shown to an audience where anyone can attend and in a public space.  Some of the UNF streaming videos have Public Performance Rights, but not all.

Kanopy has an icon for Public Performance Rights in the description of a film. Icon for Public Performance Rights "PPR is circled in yellow.

Kanopy also has a search, where you can set a filter to Public Performance Rights and see which films have this right and can be screened for a public audience. Any public screening of a streaming video with Public Performance Rights has to be free to attendees as well.  If you have any questions about Public Performance Rights contact lib-acq@unf.edu

Search filters in Kanopy. The search filter for Public Performance Rights has a red box around it.
