RefWorks

Creating an Account

There are two different ways to create a RefWorks account depending on what email you wish to use.

  1. Create and access an account with your UNF email address
  2. Create and access an account using an institutional URL and a personal email other than UNF.

Option 1. UNF Email Address

  1. At https://refworks.proquest.com, click on the “Create Account” link.
  2. Enter your institutional (@unf.edu) email address and click “Check”.
  3. Since UNF subscribes to RefWorks, you’ll receive a “success” message and you will be asked to create a password.  Your institutional email becomes your login name.
  4. An activation email will be sent and you’ll need to validate your account to continue. Check both your Inbox and your Junk Email folder as it may be sent to junk unintentionally.
  5. When you click on the link in the activation email, you will be directed back to RefWorks to enter your name, role and department affiliation.  You’ll also be asked if you’d like to install the “Save to RefWorks” browser bookmarklet (a great way to capture data from web pages!) and if you’d like to install one of the paper writing helpers (Cite in Microsoft Word and Cite in Google Docs).
  6. You’ll be brought directly into your new account and are ready to begin adding your research.

Option 2. Institutional URL and Personal Email

  1. Go to http://refworks.proquest.com/signup/university-of-north-florida/
  2. Enter your email address (you can use any valid email address), create a password and click “Sign Up”. Your email becomes your login name.
  3. An activation email will be sent to the email address you registered with and you’ll need to validate your account to continue.
  5. You’ll be brought directly into your new account and are ready to begin adding your research.

Note: if you are off campus, you will need to contact the library to obtain the access code
