Advocates for Informed Choice
Founded in 2006 through an Equal Justice Works Fellowship, AIC is the first, and only, organization in the U.S. to undertake a coordinated strategy of legal advocacy for the rights of children with intersex conditions or DSDs (differences of sex development).
Intersex Society of North America
The Intersex Society of North America (ISNA) is devoted to systemic change to end shame, secrecy, and unwanted genital surgeries for people born with an anatomy that someone decided is not standard for male or female.

What is gender?

Gender is commonly defined in terms of biology and anatomy. Although this may be more accurately called one's sex - male, female, intersex. One's gender also connotes the societal expectations associated with each sex - male, female, transgender.

What about gender identity?

"Gender identity is how we feel about and express our gender and gender roles — clothing, behavior, and personal appearance. It is a feeling that we have as early as age two or three."
