Student-Athlete Research

Sometimes student-athletes get so caught up in their busy schedules that they fail to utilize all the resources they have at their disposal.  This LibGuide is created with the intent to complement the resources that are provided by Athletic Academic Support Department with resources and services that the library provides.

Tommy G's Best Kept Secrets

The library offers a number of surprising services and resources that can help you succeed while at UNF:

  • Research help is available if you have a project and don't know where to start.
    • Schedule a Research Consultation with a librarian for help getting started, choosing a topic, finding articles, books, data, and primary sources, citing sources, and more.  You can meet with a librarian via Zoom.  So if you're on the road, this is still an option.
    • Contact Tommy G's by phone, text, chat or email to get quick research help.
  • Group study space
    • Need to meet with your group?  Reserve a group study room on the 1st, 2nd or 3rd floor up to a week in advance.  The large study rooms on the 2nd floor are perfect for practicing presentations or holding a meeting.
  • Equipment to borrow - laptops, phone chargers, graphing calculators, dry erase markers
    • Don't want to carry your laptop everywhere?  Forgot your charger?  Stop by the Access Services Desk on the 1st floor and check one out for free.  You'll need your Osprey1 card and most items must stay in the library.
  • Tutoring
    • Tutors from SASS (Student Academic Support Services) are often in the library to help with various subjects. Check their schedule.
  • ITS Help Desk
    • Need help with a software application like excel?  Stop by the ITS Help Desk on the 1st floor and they'll take care of most of your computer problems.
  • Print/Copy/Scan
    • You can print from any computer in the building, including yours.  Use your Osprey1 card to print - .09 for black and white and .25 for color prints.  Scanners are available at no cost.
  • Food in the library
    • Coming to study straight from practice?  It's ok to bring dinner.  All we ask is that you throw away your trash and let a staff member know if you spill anything.
