Group Tours - Testimonials

Daniel, Inc.  -  August 2017

In 1884, the population of Jacksonville was just 10,000, yet even within that relatively small number; there were still a multitude of children in need of help. To that end, a group of church women launched the Orphanage and Home for the Friendless in a small, rented cottage on the corner of Liberty and Ashley Street with a fund launched to open a permanent home.  Nowadays, Daniel Memorial is no longer a home - instead it has evolved into a critical and effective outreach center helping nearly 2,000 local abused, abandoned and neglected children, as well as at-risk families everyday through programs and financial assistance.

During school holidays the volunteers from Daniel bring students to the Thomas G. Carpenter Library for our Art in the Library Tour. The leadership at Daniel finds this tour, "helps expand the vision of young people by opening their eyes to the arts rich culture of our community and also reminding students to never to limit themselves -- and to proudly embrace bravely beating to their own drum."

OLLI - Osher Lifelong Learning Institute  -  July 2017

Led by Georgia Pribanic, OLLI enjoyed their group tour during Summer intercession.

"I just finished an OLLI evaluation form and sang the praises of the work that Dr. Curry and the library employees have accomplished with Art in the Library and the accompanying tour. I will also convey that to Dr. Curry directly as well. The students at UNF are indeed fortunate to be the beneficiaries of such a rich and varied environment that nurtures their intellectual growth within the confines of such a welcoming, diverse, and supportive library facility. Like Dr. Curry, I believe that community support is crucial for helping to provide resources so that the library can continue and even expand its outstanding service. This is even more important now with the state reducing educational budgets. Again, thank you for your welcoming attitude and informative tour. Can you tell that I loved it? I hope so!!

Continued success,

Georgia Pribanic, OLLI Host, Art in the Library tour"
