The Andrew Farkas Library Resources and Endowment was established to provide ongoing support for the acquisition of library materials. The fund ensures that future generations of UNF students and faculty will have resources to support their learning and scholarship.
A native of Hungary, Mr. Farkas received his bachelor’s degree from Occidental College in Los Angeles, where he was a stacks supervisor. He received his master's of library science at the University of California in Berkeley in 1962. He had worked in the library at the University of California at Davis from 1962 to 1967 and was hired at UNF in May of 1970.
Gifts to establish this fund were given by alumni, faculty, staff and friends in honor of Mr. Andrew Farkas, UNF's Founding Library Director and recipient of the 1991 Distinguished Professor Award.

The Library Acquisitions Fund was established to provide ongoing support for the acquisition of library materials. The fund ensures that future generations of UNF students and faculty will have resources to support their learning and scholarship.
In order to keep pace with the growing needs and research opportunities for our students and faculty, we must continue to provide the most current and best resources possible. Gifts to this fund help to close the gap between state allocations and private sources to acquire materials. UNF is currently last in the State University System for expenditures for Library Acquisitions. Help us to continue to provide resources by making a gift.
